2013 TransXML Schemas Workshop

Development of a Formalized Process for the Adoption, Development, Maintenance, and Enhancement of TransXML Schemas Workshop

TRB sponsored a workshop on the Future of TransXML on Decmber 11, 2013 in Washington, D.C.

Transportation agencies have recognized the value of Extensible Markup Language (XML), and are developing their own XML formats or “schemas” to facilitate data exchange across applications. TransXML provides an open, vendor-neutral format for storing, exchanging, and archiving data.

The workshop engaged both transportation agency and industry stakeholders, including the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials’ Joint Technical Committee on Electronic Engineering Data (JTCEED), to understand steps that could expand the use of TransXML among transportation agencies.
