This committee is concerned with advancing the state of the practice in the development and application of information systems and technologies in transportation for greater productivity and efficiency. Areas of emphasis are: applications of sensor technologies for data collection and monitoring across multiple transportation agency functions, use of information technology to enhance efficiencies in construction management; design of data and application architectures and service delivery methods to efficiently serve the full range of transportation agency strategic and tactical information needs; deployment of information technologies supporting transportation data integration, sharing and distribution within and across organizations; development and use of common semantics and standards in the transportation field; and transportation organization adaptation to emerging information technologies. The committee identifies research needs in these areas and supports related technology transfer among transportation organizations, vendors, and universities.
